Divinatory Poetics Class Series: Rhythm & Silence

The mediumistic words of poets and mystics are a gateway by which each of us might access

the deeper recesses of Being. In this series, we use words as a pathway into inhabitation of our

own experience and discover how even a single word, with its elemental sounds, personal

associations and myriad meanings can become an internal catalyst.

Approached contemplatively, writing provides an accessible ‘rubber-meets-road’ practice

– a way to witness, comprehend and articulate. In each class, we will sit at the crossroads of

wisdom and curiosity, the unknown and the imagination. We will have the opportunity to be

‘alone together,’ to write, to engage in conversation or reside in silence, to listen, to ask questions

and to let the collective pool stimulate and inform us with possibilities from beyond ourselves.
